Welcome back from the summer break. We have been working on Ostomy Toronto during the summer months, taking support calls from people needing ostomy support - I really enjoy this part of the job.
We have started to take donations of ostomy supplies again so if anyone wants to donate
ostomy supplies please contact me directly at jimfitzgerald40@gmail.com I will get back to you as soon as I can.
We started our zoom meetings again, the first meeting had technical issues with the password but that has been resolved. We also had Convatec doing a presentation on their products as well as their Convatec Support Program.
I had a great summer with my family. We didn't ride our motorcycles as much as we would have liked mainly because of all the rain we got this summer.
I was very happy to figure out a pouch system that works well for me both on the Harley and at the gym. I tried the Convatec 1 Piece Convex Pouch with an Eakins seal and I like to use tegaderm tape on the edges but I put these pouches through everything and never had a leak. I was very impressed how well they held up.
Ostomy Toronto is taking part in the Ostomy Canada Society's Step Up For Ostomy Event in
conjunction with World Ostomy Day on October 2, 2021. Please donate HERE as every bit helps: it allows both Ostomy Canada and Ostomy Toronto to do the program and support we give to people living with an ostomy.
For a chance to win a $100 Tim Horton's Gift Card: on Saturday & Sunday, October 2 & 3, submit a photo of you doing something with your ostomy by posting it on the Ostomy Toronto Facebook Page here https://www.facebook.com/OstomyToronto. Winner of the $100 Tim Horton's Gift Card will be contacted and announced on October 10, 2021.
I hope we can resume in-person meetings later this year, but until then come join our Zoom
meetings this month (details and info below). It's a great way to meet others, and get advice and support.
Please stay safe and healthy.
Thanks
Jim Fitzgerald
